![]() | EnvironmentPolytainers strives to develop thinwall plastic packaging for the food and dairy market with the lowest environmental-impact. We take a holistic view towards environmental impact. Polytainers adheres to following principles: first reduce, then reuse, and finally recycle. Reducing the amount of material used to manufacture a packaging unit is the most environmentally beneficial step in terms of looking at the life cycle analysis of environmental impact. In fact, the manufacture of plastic packaging accounts for 95% of the total environmental cost versus only 5% for actual disposal of the package. The Tellus Institute of Boston compared a variety of packaging options: plastics, aseptic and poly-coated paper, metal and glass. The study concluded "the lightest-weight package, per unit of delivered end product, is generally the lowest environmental-impact product." Polytainers uses polypropylene as it both ensures high product protection and requires the least amount of source material (fossil fuel.) Moreover, polypropylene packaging is made with thinner wall sections but retains the same structural integrity as heavier HDPE, resulting in containers that are 30% lighter. | ||
